Cabo San Lucas

My wife and I had a chance to leave the cold of Wisconsin this past winter to visit the lovely Cabo San Lucas. It is the first time I have been to that side of Mexico, and damn is it beautiful. From the photos, you will notice I fell in love with the topography and the empty beaches. The rock formations and mountains gave this area so much character.

When you own your own business, there are not a lot of breaks… but when you do decide to leave, it feels so good! New spaces, new air, new paths beneath you’re feet… I love to travel, and wish I could do more of it (so if you are getting married somewhere besides Milwaukee, let me know, I want to travel and make images for you…)
My wife and I had the chance to travel over to San Francisco last October, and it was amazing.

Christmas at the Rohdes and Perses

I hope you had an amazing holiday. I had the pleasure of spending a bunch of time with family. My sister in laws were both in town, and it is very rare that everyone is in the same place at the same time. It was great to just hang out, catch up, eat some good food and relax together in celebration of the holidays. I also promised myself I would take some time off and actually relax and recharge. However, while taking a break from my computer and email, I could never take a break from a camera… Here is a few photographs from the holidays. First set from the Rohde house and the second half from my in laws place.
I love being stranded

I love being stranded, lost or delayed.
Why?
It gives me time to wander, look, and explore in spaces I might not normally be… and create personal work, the stuff that got me into photography.
The last post, the engagement session with Becca and Bill was down in Chicago. Simon and I traveled down via train. After the session, which was awesome, we headed back to the train station, only to find out that we missed the afternoon train and we would have to wait for a couple hours to catch the next one…
Awesome!
I included some of these in Becca and Bill’s post, because I thought it fit in well with their session. Really all of these would have fit in with their session. There isn’t much difference between the work I make for my clients and the work that I make for myself… maybe content, since the main focus of what people hire me to do is usually photographs of them… but I include little snaps of the day and surroundings in most of my sessions as well, I just think it is all part of the story… it is all part of the day.
